Borrowing equipment

As a member of the Network, you can borrow any of the equipment - at no charge - provided you abide by the agreed terms and conditions (click link to download). You can borrow equipment in 24 hour periods on a weekly, forthnightly, monthly or just occasional basis, according to the demand in your local community and the capacity of your organization. The Network's committee will try to ensure that the equipment is used as fairly as possible across Suffolk.

Eligibility to borrow equipment

Only groups that are members of the Suffolk Digital Cinema Network may borrow equipment from the Network. Associate members (commercial cinemas) may borrow equipment, at the Committee's discretion, for occasional digital screenings - provided that the equipment is not likely to be needed by any full member.

Training policy

Only people who have been trained to do so may handle or operate equipment borrowed from the Network. This is to reduce the risk of injury to people and of damage to the equipment. We suggest that at least two people from each member group receive the basic training, which takes 1.5 - 2 hours to complete. Training sessions will be repeated around four times a year, depending on the demand. Details of forthcoming training sessions are posted in the section of this website.

How to book equipment

To book the equipment, go to the members' area of this website (logged-in members only).

Collecting and returning equipment

When your booking is confirmed, you will receive details of where to collect the equipment from, and where to return it after use (normally back to the same place, but in some cases it may make sense for it to go on somewhere more convenient, or to be collected by the next user). These arrangements will also be noted in the online booking diary.

It is your responsibility to arrange times to collect and return the equipment from and to the specified place. When you collect equipment, you will be asked to: note the specific equipment you are borrowing against a checklist, and report any visible signs of damage; confirm your understanding and acceptance of the Network's terms and conditions; and agree a date, time and place for returning the equipment.

When you return the equipment, the checklist of equipment borrowed will be logged back in, and you will be asked to report any problems encountered with the equipment.
