The equipment is covered against loss and damage whilst in storage, in transit and in use by members. There is a 250 pound excess, which the Network will reclaim from any member whose use of the equipment results in a claim.
However, you should note that the Network's insurance policy specifically excludes liability for the theft of property from an unattended vehicle, 'unless all the doors, windows and other means of access have been secured and locked and all keys of the vehicle removed to a place of safety, and the property is placed in the boot of the vehicle or is otherwise out of sight.'
Members losing any equipment through not observing these requirements must agree to reimburse the Network in full for any uninsured loss. For example, if the equipment were stolen from an unattended estate car in which it had been visible, it would not be covered by the Network's insurance, and your group would have to meet the full cost of replacing it.
In any event, you are urged to take commonsense precautions at all times, such as not leaving the equipment in unattended vehicles or in unattended premises. (One member group reported that its village hall was broken into the night after a screening; they suspect that the intruder thought that the equipment might have been stored there overnight.)
When loading and unloading the equipment, please make sure you have enough help, so that cases are not left unattended in open lobbies or on the pavement.
