(1) Take the Projector out of case and set on stand or flight cases depending on where you intend to project from.
(2) Inpect mains leads, 4-way extension and 20m mains cable for any signs of damage. If there is any damage, do not use the cable and report the problem to our engineer immediately.
(3) If safe, plug mains leads into back of projector and DVD players. Plug the other ends into the 4-way extension (which is surge-protected), and connect this to the mains - using the 20m mains cable, if needed (remember from your training, only make one connection to the building's power system).
(4) Tape down any trailing leads securely to the floor so that nobody can trip over them, espacially where they pass doors or exits or if possible and safe, route overhead.
(5) Plug the yellow video lead into yellow video socket on projector marked VIDEO (yellow). Plug the IEC mains lead into the projector and into the short 4-way extention lead
(6) Connect phono plug on the other end of the lead to the DVD sockets these are on back of DVD marked VIDEO.
(7) Switch on power to DVD player. Switch on projector power (at rear of projector by mains input lead). Standby button on top of projector will light up orange.
(8) Ensure lens cap has been removed. Press standby button on top of projector to switch lamp on. Switch will turn green.
(9) Ensure circular knob on top of projector is rotated and set to Video. LCD Multimedia logo will appear on screen as soon as projector has warmed up and bulb illuminated.
(10) Adjust the image on the screen to get it in the centre using the adjustable leg at the rear corner and the leg at the front (release catch for front leg is at the front bottom right of projector).
(11) Adjust lens zoom so that picture fills the screen using knurled knob that sticks out of side of lens. Holding this knob in place adjust focus using outer end ring of lens.
(12) Insert DVD disk into DVD player and press play.
(13) Films can be screened in a number of aspect ratios. (Aspect ratio is the relationship between picture height and width: eg, cinemascope ratio is 2.33:1; for every 1m picture is high it will be 2.33m wide). Most commercial DVDs state the ratio on the box. If not, the best method is to try the picture on all the different setting to decide which looks best.
(14) Using the DVD player's remote control you can adjust the image's aspect ratio to the correct setting. To do this you must ensure that there is no disc playing.
(15) Press display on the DVD remote; a menu appears. Go to the bottom icon (a toolbox) and press enter (the centre of the toggle switch).
(16) Select custom, then press enter. First up is the language menu that enables you to add subtitles in various languages - and, often, English subtitles for the hearing-impaired. Press enter if you want to use this facility.
(17) Otherwise, go down the icons to the TV icon. Press enter.
(18) TV type will appear. Press enter.
(19) You can then change the aspect ratio to one of either 16:9, 4:3 letterbox or 4:3 pan and scan by moving the toggle switch up or down. When you have chosen the ratio you want press enter
(20) Press display until you exit all menus.
You can also change the aspect ratio with the projector's remote control using the aspect button. Press this and you can swap between 4:3, 16:9 and small. Make sure that the DVD player and the projector are set to the same aspect ratio!
(21) The procetor is capable of being connected to a large range of reproduction devices from such as PCs, Video players and ipods if you wish to do this and are unsure of how, contact our engineer for free advice.
